Spotify’s desktop app is already rumored to get a revamp with the web interface very soon. Before that, the streaming giant has added one of the most requested features – Google Chromecast support – to its desktop app. This means you will now be able to cast music and control it right from your Windows or Mac desktop.
In fact, this was one of the benefits of running the Spotify mobile app in Chrome OS desktop, and running the iOS version on an Apple Silicon Mac would have allowed this functionality as well.

I have a premium account and I'm on Mac Mojave 10.14.4 . Whenever I want to cast my Spotify to my Google Home speakers, it works without issue on my phone. However, whenever I try to cast from the desktop app, my speakers never show up as an option. It just shows me a learn more button on how to connect to my devices.
